Artist Statement

Berlin. January 2015.

We live in a world whose political-economic system shows signs of failure. Brazilian-german artist (or german-brazilian, as beholder of both citizenships) born and raised in Espírito Santo (Brazil), grown up in a fishing village in the municipality of Aracruz between the life of the local indigenous culture and the corporative elite of one of the largest breached cellulose producers in the world, also having a historic of intense theatrical activity in Rio de Janeiro (an essentially diverse and unequal city), and currently developing my work in Berlin (another city with profound historical marks), understand my creative work as the elaboration of artistic projects that give voice to contemporary social and political issues, always seeking to reflect about the past, the construction of identity, spiritual beliefs and political ideals, intending to create, or at least consider, other future perspectives.

Believe in the development of projects that research the limits between art and life, in order to create circumstances that place the viewer as co-responsible for the creation of a new world, including him, therefore, as an integrant part of the work. Place myself in the search to create new productive structures in Brazil, concerning establish more opportunities for continued artworks that collaborate to the development of the Brazilian artistic and cultural sector, in order to stablish an even larger and more efficient communication with society and its dilemmas.
